To table or not to table?
It’s been over a week since Tony Fitzgerald gave an explosive speech highlighting corruption in the Queensland Government. The Premier- Anna Bligh- has announced a ‘Green Paper’ to investigate the allegations and says she is making her Government more transparent. The media coverage of the speech and resulting actions has been extensive. To date, most of it has focussed on lobbyists and questionable fundraising dinners. Most media outlets have skipped over the first part of what Tony Fitzgerald said, perhaps because its common knowledge. Cabinet documents containing information that should be scrutinised are often tabled and unable to be accessed for 20-30 years.
