The Sister Girls will march in Mardi Gras, representing their transgender and indigenous communities

The Tiwi Islands are home to the largest concentration of transgender people in an Indigenous community: they call themselves the SisterGirls.

This year, for the second time, a contingent of the SisterGirls will fly to Sydney to march in Mardi Gras.

As ever, the glitz and glamour of the parade is a celebration but also a reminder that more remains to be done.
