It’s tax time and it appears that we still don’t know what’s happening with the governments tax package, which is set to be introduced to Parliament when both houses return this week.

With the government refusing to split up its tax package, its looking increasingly likely that it will need to support of the crossbench to get it over the line. Senator Rex Patrick from Centre Alliance, who hold two key crossbench seats, says he’s willing to support the package, but this is contingent on the government putting forward a thorough policy package to lower gas prices.

So are we going to get our tax breaks anytime soon? No one really knows
