Time for Aboriginal health delivery model to get local

Today saw the release of the 2011 Overcoming Indigenous Disadvantage report- and the gap is not closing in a hurry. There was improvement in only 13 of the 45 indicators monitored by the government. In another 10 the report finds ”no real improvement”. In seven it finds outcomes going backwards. The message coming from indigenous communities is that its time to step away from the top down method of health delivery. they would like to control their own health services…and Director of Medicine from Monash University Professor Paul Komesarioff agrees .
