Murujuga is located on the north western coast of Western Australia the site contains one of the world’s largest and most important collections of petroglyphs – ancient rock carvings dating back as far as the last ice age. The collection of standing stones may be the largest in the world. The Dampier Rock Art Precinct was listed on the National Trust Endangered Places Register in 2002. The International campaign for futher protection against mining and transport industries will culminate in a forum in Perth, Friday 9th May 2006 .
