Two “Catalyst’ programs on the the ABC about the causes and cures of heart disease have created confusion amongst the general community and anger in the medical profession. People with are wondering whether they should continue to take their statin tablets and medical professionals are criticising the validity of the research behind the programs’ assertions.

Statins are the most commonly prescribed drug in Australia, with more that 2 million people taking them to reduce their cholesterol level.The Heart Foundation’s National CEO Dr Lyn Roberts helps to to clarify the issue.
