Even though 90% of people express a desire to die in the familiar surroundings of their homes, a Grattan Institute report found that more than half Australians die in hospital and about a third die in residential care. These figures are significantly higher than in other developed countries. Safety and loneliness are two reasons why elderly people are often moved into care, but one aged care provider is looking at ways of overcoming these problems and keeping elderly people in their homes till the end.
