Queer Koori art is expected to attract a lot of attention this month, with the launch of The Pink, The Black and The Beautiful exhibition in Sydney tomorrow night. It’s all part of the Mardi-Gras arts festival, in the leadup to MardiGras parade on March the 4th. Organiser Eric Nair says the exhibition, at Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative in inner-city Leichardt, features the work of eight Queer Koories. While the photos of non-Indigenous artist Elaine Pelot Syron, documenting Aboriginal involvement in Mardi Gras, will also be on display in the gallery’s forecourt entry.
