It’s a battle-ground for politicans, rural communities and environmentalists, but the Murray-Darling Basin could now be an award-winning river. It’s one of four river systems around the world recognised for how far they’ve come against all the odds. The 2013 Thiess International River Prize is worth $300,000 to the winning river, and the Murray Darling Basin Authority could be the ones to claim it.
