Almost half of the funding which the major political parties receive comes from private and corporate sources. Many have taken issue with this practice, suggesting that this private money may bring with it undue influence over government policy and process. Nonetheless the government has recently introduced reforms aimed at removing disclosure requirements for donations under $10 000.
