In beseiged Fallujah US troops are proud of their latest and very effective method of controlling violence. Snipers are being used to pick off anyone suspected of terrorist motives. So far ninety Iraquis have been shot and killed by the crack sniper force, many of whom were recreational hunters in civilian life. Professor of International Law at the University of Sydney Donald Rothwell says the troops are contravening the Fourth Geneva Convention which prohibits the targeting of civilians in war.
