We often see homeless and needy people in the street, and pass them by in the knowledge that someone, somewhere, is prepared to help them out. Or maybe someday we’ll get around to doing something about it. A year ago Sydney-sider Ravi Prasad decided that enough was enough, and he started an organisation called “The Long Table”, to contribute to the well being of people doing it tough. He recently received the Elizabeth Hastings Memorial Award, based on Human Rights, from the University of Technology Sydney. You might be surprised to know that Ravi does all this in his own time whilst working five days a week in the corporate world. If you’d like to help out, email him at myintuition@yahoo.com. Thankfully Ravi’s not alone; there are pockets of organisations that arise from time to time to meet this challenge, so check out the web and see if there’s a group in your area.
