Over the weekend, Peter Andren, the long serving federal independent MP, died after succumbing to pancreatic cancer. He was 61. Andren was one of the most popular independents in Australia’s history and was admired by all sides of politics for his strong desire to serve the community and his determination to speak his mind. He will be remembered as an MP that proved that Independents are a vital part of the political system.
