28 000 people aged under 25 in Australia are homeless. This is 40% of the entire homeless population.

However, Homelessness in young people can range from couchsurfing at a mates, living out of your car, and sleeping on the streets. It is a complex issue that is too often brushed aside by the public and the government.

Today is Youth Homelessness Matters Day, an initiative that has been running in Australia since 1990 which raises awareness of the daily struggles that young Australians face in finding permanent housing.
