The Coalition’s policy on climate change is shaped by teams of talented spin doctors who can make you believe what the government wants. Dr Guy Pearse used to be one of them. For nearly three years he wrote the speeches for Australia’s former Environment Minister Robert Hill, a role that gave him ready access to inside information on who’s calling the shots in climate policy. He’s now going public about how lobbyists working for our most polluting industries have an incredibly influence on Australia’s response to climate change, and has also written a book about the issue called High and Dry. He explained what made him decide to go ahead and blow the whistle on his own party.
