Last week, UNESCO condemned the Abbott Government for its lack of action on the environment. It denied the government’s request to open up Tasmania’s World Heritage Area to logging, and gave Australia just 12 months to improve the welfare of the Great Barrier Reef.

In more bad news, it was today announced that the Great Keppel Island development will go ahead, in spite of serious concerns for the reef.If remedial actions aren’t implemented, the Great Barrier Reef may end up on UNESCO’s List of World Heritage in Danger.
