A meeting in Sydney today will urge the New South Wales government to remove any barriers to speeding up coal seam gas extraction. The state is being warned that it faces a looming crisis of supply, but opponents say there is no crisis.

The farming lobby which managed to secure a state government agreement to stop mining near farms says piping in gas from other states is an easy solution. And environemntal scientists warn that much more research is needed before coal seam gas mining should eb allowed to continue.
