Education Minister Julia Gillard’s plans for a new website ranking schools according to their education outcomes for students has teachers, principals and unions up-in-arms. They say the site will end up as a “league table”, and result in needy schools being further disadvantaged. But don’t parents have a right to know how their child’s school is performing?
