The Christchurch Call to end extremism on social media

The Christchurch attack was broadcast live on social media and while the video was quickly taken down it was re-uploaded 1.5 million times within 24 hours.

In the wake of how the Christchurch attacker used social media New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has put forth the Christchurch Call in a bid to end extremism on social media. It  calls on “signatory nations to adopt measures to ban objectionable material online and create a framework for media to report on atrocities without amplifying them”.

But how successful can someone really be at removing extremism from the internet?
