They’re a global giant of a business with assets and influence in 15 countries but they do like to push their image as All- Australian, even though the huge mining company BHP can hardly claim to be local any more, especially since its merger with Billiton Robert Macklin is co-author of The Big Fella, a warts and all history of BHP. He says the company still claims to be uniquely Australian as a way of continuing the enormous political sway it holds in this country.
