You might be shocked to know that despite Margaret Thatcher’s conservative politics, over two decades ago she stood before the General Assembly of the United Nations to support action on global warming. But as the conservative tide continued to turn against her in later years, Thatcher watered down her strong stance on climate change. She even condemned former Vice President Al Gore, calling his predictions “doomist”.

So if a politician with the conviction of Thatcher has changed her stance on climate change over time, is it no surprise that many other politicians have also followed a similar path?
