Thailand’s military government says that it plans to send over 100,000 Burmese refugees who have been living in camps along its border for 20 years back to Myanmar. The Thai government is promising a “smooth return”, portraying the repatriation as an offer of freedom. However, political experts and human rights activists warn that poor planning and tense times in both nations could have serious consequences for the refugees.
