TGA defends oversight on Miracle Products
The TGA or Therapeutic Goods Administration is once again facing scrutiny over their policing of so called, ‘miracle’ products. In recent times, the TGA has been inundated with complaints about a lack of testing and risk assessments on products that often appear too good to be true. These complaints have forced the Federal Government to consider an inquiry and possibly even an overhaul of the regulator. Currently many products do register with the TGA but with little accountability over their claims. The Wire’s Tess Morrell spoke with Dr. Ken Harvey, senior lecturer at La Trobe University’s School of Public Health about the regulation of this $2 Billion dollar industry.
