Civil liberties have taken another blow in the Northern Territory. The Supreme Court has upheld an appeal by the Australian Crime Commission to access medical records. The Commission can now access the files of eight Indigenous girls who were under the age of 16 and who had sought contraceptive advice at a remote Territory health clinic. Civil libertarian groups say the ruling will be disastrous for remote Indigenous health in the Northern Territory.
