The NSW Teachers Federation and the Independent Education Union of Australia are taking historic action next week where they will meet to discuss wage caps imposed by Dominic Perrottet.

The NSW government offered to raise the cap to 3 percent from 2.5 percent, a deal which IEUA says does not adequately address the issue.

He says inadequate pay has contributed to the number of people enrolled in teaching degrees falling 30 percent, leaving nation wide gaps in teaching staff.
