The use of the poison 1080 is still widespread across Tasmania, despite the substance being described as a torturous method of killing both native and pest animals. In addition to this, recent lawsuits have highlighted the danger of improper use with numerous domestic pets succumbing to the poison. Tasmanian vet David Obendorf, pet owner Sandy Tiffin and Wilderness Society spokesperson Paul Oosting spoke to Dominic Geiger about how some companies are using the 1080 poison as bait.
