Pakistan is descending towards what some are warning could be civil war with fighting intensifying between the Taliban and government troops. Civilians are caught in the middle – with the Taliban taking over towns and the military then shelling those places. The Pakistani government seems powerless to deal with the situation and the US is getting increasingly worried. Pakistan has a significant arsenal of nuclear weapons – and the US is worried what might happen if the Taliban get the upper hand Associate Professor Peter Mayer from the School of History and Politics says nuclear weapons aren’t the main thing to worry about in the present situation.
