A tenuous ceasefire that was brokered by American and Russian representatives at the UN Security Council last week has collapsed. The agreement aimed to restrict any combat action from the Syrian Army and Rebel Forces, as well as solidifying US and Russian co-operation in the region.

But over the last few days increasing tensions have led to its breakdown, with public displays of criticism from both Russian and US ambassadors. These come after multiple reported breaches of the ceasefire, including the US led coalition accidental bombing of a Syrian Army outpost in Deir ez-Zoor.
