Large scale military attacks on civilians in the Syrian city of Hama and other cities over the weekend have left at least 142 people dead. 100 are said to have died in Hama alone from tank and sniper fire, in what is being labelled the most violent response by Bashar al Assad’s Government since protests began in March. The holy month of Ramadan, starting today, could prove a focus for demonstrations of heightened intensity as people meet each evening for nightly prayers.
