To Syria now, and in the wake of a shocking massacre the UN has condemned the violence and called on the regime to pull back its troops and heavy weapons from population centres. While Russia and China have in the past been reluctant to put pressure on Syria’s leader, Bashar Al-Assad, even they signed up to the unanimous statement adopted by the security council.
