Sydney’s “invisible” carers get a day out

They are the friends and family of people with disabilities, addiction, mental health issues and aging complications, who offer care without compensation and in their own time. Because these carers work behind the scenes, they often suffer from a lack of support systems for their unique position.

Carers New South Wales held a Carers Day Out today, with entertainment and information on carer resources.This year has seen tremendous steps forward for carers in federal and state  legislation, but the day out was a means for carers to connect with each other, and bring much-needed public attention to their situation.
