Over one thousand of the world’s leading crop scientists have gathered in Brisbane this week to consider the enormous challenge of finding new ways to feed a steadily increasing population while maintaining the environment. Among those speaking at the conference today was Dr Michael Dunlop from the Sustainable Ecosystems Division of the CSIRO. Dr Dunlop talked about future issues for the long-term sustainability of Australian agriculture, and says farms may have to supplement production with other sources of income.
