Sustainability a key factor in delivering typhoon aid

The Australian government has pledged ten million dollars towards the disaster relief efforts after Typhoon Haiyan ravaged the Philippines. But aid experts are warning that there’s a need for a more measured, co-operative approach by organisations on the ground. It’s not just a matter of dropping in boxes of biscuits – co-operation, community consultation and long term planning are needed to support sustainable, social recovery of communities devastated by natural disaster.
