Private Health Insurance Surge linked to Mental Health

In a recent media release from Private Healthcare Australia, CEO Dr Rachel David has stated that “More than 300,000 Australian’s have taken out hospital cover in the year to September 30 with a 5% jump in young people aged under 30 pushing this growth”.

Ongoing concerns in youth mental health since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic paired with the rising cost of living are among factors considered as to why there is an increased demand for private health insurance amongst younger generations.
