Surge in alcohol admissions in Sydney rehab centre

The number of people checking in for alcohol treatment at one of Australia’s leading drug rehabilitation centres has jumped to record numbers. Sydney-based Odyssey House is reporting that alcohol accounted for almost 40 per cent of clients who entered the service over the past year. That’s the highest number of alcohol-related admissions in the organization’s 33 year history, and a 10 per cent leap from last year. Experts say the figures show only the surface of Australia’s alcohol problem.
