For more than fifty years now, petrol sniffing has been one of the biggest causes of brain injury in indigenous youth, with hundreds of children across the country suffering the debilitating effects. Until now scientists believed the damage was irreversible, but a new study by the Menzies School of Health Research in Darwin is providing hope for petrol sniffers and their families. Melinda Howells spoke with the leading researcher Sheree Cairney about the results.
