Fostering dialogue about the Indigenous Voice to Parliament
As community momentum builds about the upcoming referendum on the Voice to Parliament, panel discussions and community events are being held across states and territories to dispel misinformation and shed light on Indigenous voices.
Universities also play a vital role to provide spaces for debate, knowledge-sharing and clarity on key issues that impact Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
The Australian National University (ANU) held one such panel discussion, and had over 20 universities and institutions across Australia streamed into the event. The Wire’s Aryana Mohmood spoke with Vice Chancellor and President of the Australian National University (ANU), Professor Brian Schmidt, about what was discussed on the night and how discussions surrounding the Voice to Parliament need to change.
