Strong community bonds the key to Indigenous student health

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health was again in the spotlight today, on day two of Congress Lowitja 2012. The Congress aims to share ideas and information on improving Indigenous health, by bringing together keynote speakers and health experts from Australia and around the world.

Shirley Nirrpurranydji comes from a remote community in Arnhem Land. She spoke for the first time at the Congress and has been looking into how building strong relationships between schools and the local community can have a positive effect on Aboriginal students.
