Stolen Generation to have ‘Welfare Crimes’ expunged

In Victoria, Indigenous children taken from parents prior to the 1990’s would have their welfare and criminal records merged.  The effect of all this administrative jiggery pokery was that many indigenous people have a criminal record even though the ‘crime’ (being stolen from their family) was not theirs.

Legislation is now righting this wrong  – finally.
