This year’s CHOGM hosted by Sri Lanka is overshadowed by severe concerns on continued human rights abuses in the country. Sri Lankan authorities are suppressing all dissent and preventing any protests. Human rights organisations call on Commonwealth leaders to use the summit to pressure the Sri Lankan government to end their alarming crackdown on civil society and to allow international investigations into war crimes and human rights abuses.
