Research Officer, Jennifer Buckingham, from The Centre for Independent Studies has just put out some new research that says that government subsidies don’t make women any more likely to return to work. In fact, the study says, all such subsidies do is push up the cost of of childcare. But Childcare expert and Chair of the Women’s Electoral Lobby, Eva Cox, says we should be supporting publicly funded Childcare as it’s beneficial both for women who need or want to go back to work and beneficial for the long term development of children.
