After a freak tackling accident Newcastle Knights rugby league player Alex McKinnon, has a long road ahead of him. But how often do these freak accidents in sport occur? Around 8% of all new spinal injuries are sports related each year. But some spinal injury support groups claim there’s not much more sporting codes can do to prevent them.
