A magnitude 8.0 tsunami has struck off the Solomon Islands, causing a tsunami which has destroyed villages and, possibly, lives. The United States Geological Survey reports the quake was 28.7 kilometres deep and the epicentre of the was 347 kilometres east of Kira Kira.
