Schools around the country are only just beginning to come to terms with the power of social media. South Australia has introduced guidelines for schools in an effort to protect both students and teachers from the pitfalls of the new media landscape.

The guidelines warn teachers about photographing children and also offer advice on how to deal with teacher harassment by pupils and parents.The Education Union says teacher abuse is rife and the guidelines have no real teeth to deal with it.
