SKA telescope to ‘plumb secrets of universe’

Up until now astronomers have been limited to studying the mysteries of our own galaxy, the milky way. All this is about to change with the announcement of world’s largest radio telescope, the $2 billion Square Kilometre Array (SKA), to be built over the next decade in two sites – one in Western Australia and the other in South Africa’s Northern Cape. With the new telescope, scientists say they’ll be able to jump to the next frontier of radio astronomy and observe distant galaxies.
