The Committee to Protect Journalists has released a report “The silencing crime: sexual violence and journalists”. They have spoken to over 50 journalists who are survivors of sexual assault while on the beat. It’s an exponential increase, with only a few cases on record when CBS correspondent Lara Logan spoke out after being sexually assaulted in Cairo’s turmoil in February this year. The report exposes cultural and professional stigmatization that continues to exist in newsrooms, and communities, around the world.
