New figures from the UNHCR show the number of refugees worldwide is on the rise, with 45.2 million forcibly displaced people worldwide. An extra 7.6 million people were displaced globally in 2012, including 1.1 million new refugees, with many coming from war–torn Syria. But while Australia has already more than doubled its humanitarian intake does this new figure place us under pressure to take more?
