Sherman Alexie is a popular and sometimes controversial author from an Indian reservation in Washington. Best known for his novel The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, Sherman attributes his career to salmon and sitcoms. We caught up with him while visiting Australia for the Sydney Writers’ Festival. [The story ends with Sherman Alexie reading a passage from his new short story Soap Lake.]
