Sexual discrimination still present in newsrooms

The largest survey yet undertaken in Australia of women working in the news media, has revealed sexual harassment and gender discrimination is still prevalent. A 1996 survey along similar lines by the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance highlighted the issues facing women journalists. The Melbourne academic, who compiled the latest study, believes that the industry has not taken the situation seriously.
