The Festival State, SA, has been awash with colour, wisdom and music recently, with several festivals on at the same time. Arguably the cream of the creative crop will begin a weekend of global music tonight in Adelaide’s Botanic Park for the start of the annual WOMADELAIDE festival. 530 artists from 27 countries will perform. Today Indian British drumming group the Dohl Foundation and Cameroon reggae singer Coco Mbassi gave a small taste of treats to come, entertaining a crowd which included excited Tanzanian school children. Each artist wanted the same things: to spread the love and draw people’s attention away from the brutal reality of our world.
